The Latin Quarter

The Latin Quarter is the center of Paris student life since 1253, when Robert de Sorbon founded a university, later known as "la Sorbonne".

The name "Latin Quarter" ("le Quartier Latin" in French) comes from the fact that the official language in Paris universities was ancient latin until 1793.

The neighbourhood is well known for its busy life day and night and its cultural dynamism.
